Transportation Workers Identification Credential

The Transportation Workers Identification Credential, or TWIC, is issued
by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and is required by
the USCG for all mariners who hold or desire to hold a Merchant Mariner
    Credential (MMC).

If you hold or plan to hold any Merchant Marine Credential (MMC) issued
by the US Coast Guard (USCG), regardless of what it is or what you do
with it, you MUST also hold a TWIC. The USCG will NOT accept an
application of an MMC unless you hold a valid TWIC.

You are a Merchant Mariner

When enrolling in the TWIC program it is very important that you indicate
to TSA that you are a Merchant Mariner, otherwise you personal
information will not be released to the USCG.

Getting a TWIC

Visit a TWIC enrollment center to enroll in the system.

    Enrollment will require that you:
  1. Provide some personal information including a valid identification
  2. Payment of $132.50.

As an option you can pre-enroll and make an appointment at a TWIC
enrollment center, but this is not required and drop-ins are always
    welcome at all enrollment centers.

A few weeks after enrolling you will receive notification to return to the
TWIC enrollment center you enrolled at to pickup and activate your card.
